What to Expect

studioYour first massage session will start with an aromatherapy foot soak while you fill out an intake form. We will go over the form together to discuss your needs, expectations and desired outcome for your massage. Then we will determine what techniques would be the most beneficial for you, so the session can be tailored to fit your individual/specific needs at that time.

After the intake the therapist will leave the room. You should undress to a level of clothing that you feel comfortable with. You will lie on the table, cover yourself with the sheet and blanket and when you are ready call the therapist back into the room. During the session, only the area of the body being worked on will be exposed, with respect to the client’s modesty.

Massage is best received when the body is in a state of relaxation. Even with deep tissue massage the pressure should be within your level of tolerance so the body doesn’t tense up and resist the work. It is more than OK to ask that the pressure be adjusted so that the desired results can be achieved.

You will be asked to prioritize your needs with the therapist so the session can be planed accordingly. Only so much can be done in one session; some parts of the body may have to be left out when working on specific therapeutic needs.

After your massage it is very important to drink plenty of water to help flush waste by-products that have been released from the muscle tissues. You may feel flu-like symptoms after your session if you do not drink enough water.

Give yourself permission to carry the benefits of the experience back into your daily life!
